(Turf Football Field - KIWA Staff Photo)Rock Rapids, Iowa — The Iowa football playoffs move into the Round of 16 Friday night, and KIWA’s featured matchup sends us to Dick Null Field as Central Lyon/George-Little Rock hosts Clarinda in Class 2A playoff action.
The Lions enter the matchup 9-0 after a 38-14 opening-round victory over Southeast Valley. Clarinda arrives at 7-2 after rolling past Pella Christian 49-14 in its playoff opener.
Central Lyon/George-Little Rock
The Lions feature a balanced offense led by senior quarterback Jayden Daale, who has completed 83 of 125 passes for 1,058 yards and seven touchdowns while adding 625 rushing yards and five scores on the ground.
Senior Michelet Sedam leads the rushing attack with 826 yards and 17 touchdowns, while Jephte Raymond anchors the defense with 22 solo tackes, 13 tackles for loss, and nine sacks.
Special teams have been a weapon as well. Logan Koob is 9-for-12 on field goals, including a 53-yarder in last week’s playoff win, while Raymond is averaging 40.4 yards per punt.
Clarinda
The Cardinals bring plenty of offensive firepower of their own.
Junior quarterback Cooper Baumgart has completed 89 of 137 passes for 1,806 yards and 26 touchdowns, while adding four rushing scores.
Senior running back Caleb Shane has piled up 1,128 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, and senior receiver Kayden Hawley leads the receiving corps with 40 catches for 839 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Defensively, junior Connor Luzmoor leads the Cardinals with 64.5 tackles, including 44 solo stops, 14 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks.
