George, Iowa — A Rock Rapids man was arrested after an accident on Sunday, July 19th.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 10:30 pm, 52-year-old Hiram Meadows was driving a motorcycle on County Road A-34, two miles west of George. According to the report, Meadows swerved to miss a raccoon, lost control of the motorcycle and tipped it over on the roadway. After the Sheriff’s Office arrived, meadows refused any medical treatment, and was subsequently arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated- 1st offense, and failure to have a Valid License (Meadows did not have a motorcycle endorsement on his license).
The motorcycle received very minor damage.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s department was assisted by the George Emergency Medical Services, the George Fire Department, and the Lyon County Ambulance.
