Rock Valley Resident Airlifted After House Fire

Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley resident was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital after a house fire on Friday, March 22, 2024.

The Rock Valley Fire Department reports that they were dispatched to a house fire that occurred at 2002 15th Street, in Rock Valley at about 2:15 p.m.

When they got there, officers of the Rock Valley Police Department found the house to be fully engulfed; a resident was trapped in an upstairs bedroom. Officers were able to catch the resident as he fell from a second-story window.

The Rock Valley Ambulance took the occupant to Hegg Health Center, and they were later flown to Sanford Health in Sioux Falls for further medical treatment.

The Rock Valley Fire Department reports that the Hull Fire Department, Sioux Center Fire Department, Hull Ambulance, Rock Valley Ambulance, Rock Valley Police Department, and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the response to the fire call. Members from the Rock Valley City Water Crew and Mid-American Energy also responded and assisted.

They tell us the fire remains under investigation by the Rock Valley Fire Chief and Iowa State Fire Marshal.
