Sanborn Police Nab Suspect For Felony Drunk Driving

Sanborn, Iowa — A motorist’s report of a reckless driver led to a felony charge against a Varina, Iowa man Sunday afternoon.

Court records indicate that a motorist called authorities to report a reckless driver on Highway 18, shortly after 5:00 Sunday afternoon. A Sanborn police officer located the vehicle and pulled it over after allegedly witnessing the vehicle turn left from the traffic lane instead of the turn lane, into the Casey’s parking lot.

Court documents allege that the officer approached the car and noticed that the driver, who authorities identify as 31-year-old Jesse Alan Boger of Varina, allegedly had bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol. Police say Boger failed a trio of field sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest.

According to court records, further investigation allegedly revealed that Boger had two prior drunk driving convictions, one in Iowa and another in Minnesota. Cops say they also discovered that Boger’s driver’s license was allegedly revoked.

Court records indicate that Boger is charged with Felony OWI and Driving While License Denied or Revoked, a Serious Misdemeanor. He was transported to the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar.
