Semi Accident Near Alton

orange city alton police oc pd ocpdAlton, Iowa — Two semis were damaged in an accident near Alton on Monday, November 30th.

The Orange City Police Department reports that at about 7:49 pm, 60-year-old John Lounsbury of South Sioux City, Nebraska was driving a 2014 Mack Semi-tractor pulling a trailer and attempting to make a U-turn at the intersection of East Division Street and Kennedy Avenue. Twenty-year-old Devon Anderson of Clarion was driving a 2003 Kenworth Semi-tractor pulling a trailer westbound on Kennedy Avenue. According to the report, Lounsbury lost control and slid off of the travelled portion of the roadway with his front tires, completely blocking the roadway. The report continues that Anderson evasively turned to the left and used his brakes to avoid striking Lounsbury’s Mack, and hit the trailer.

The Mack received $5,000 damage. The Kenworth received $10,000.

No injuries were reported.
