Sheldon Fire Company Responds To Smoke At Faith Community Church

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Fire Company was called to a Sheldon church on Monday afternoon.

According to Sheldon Fire Chief Brad Hindt, firefighters were paged at 1:18 p.m. to Faith Community Church (that’s the former United Methodist Church) at 506 8th Street for a report of smoke coming out of a restroom.

When they got there, Hindt says firefighters found light smoke in the hallway and in the bathroom, found a small trash can that had a fire in it. He says the damage was limited to the waste basket.

Hindt says the fire, at this point, is under investigation by the Sheldon Police Department. He says no other information will be released at this time.

Sheldon firefighters were assisted by the Sheldon Police Department. The fire company was back in service at 2:30 p.m.
