Sheldon Man Faces Drug Charges That Could Mean Several Years In Prison If Convicted

Primghar, Iowa — A Sheldon man has been arrested on felony drug charges.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 35-year-old Saverio Marino of Sheldon is accused of the possession of drugs. He was arrested on Sunday, October 22nd.

Details are sparse about the arrest in the complaints, stating only that Marino possessed approximately 14 grams of methamphetamine; possessed psilocybin, a schedule I drug; possessed marijuana and THC wax; failed to affix a drug tax stamp on seven or more grams of meth, and was in possession of two oxycodone tablets.

Marino was charged with possession with intent to deliver, a class B felony; possession of psilocybin, a class C felony; possession of a controlled substance – third or subsequent offense (marijuana), a class D felony; and used or expired drug tax stamp, also a class D felony. He also faces misdemeanor charges of unlawful possession of a prescription drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In Iowa, the penalty for class B felonies is up to 25 years in prison. For class C felonies, it’s 10 years, and for class D felonies, it’s 5 years, if convicted.

Marino faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on November 2nd.

At last report, Marino remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of a $40,000 cash or surety bond.
