Sheldon Man Faces Drug-Related Charge

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man has been arrested on a drug-related charge after the police carried out a search warrant.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 20-year-old Rian Engelkes of Sheldon is accused of being somewhere where drugs are used. He was arrested on Thursday, February 23rd, 2023.

The complaint states that while Sheldon Police were carrying out a search warrant, Engelkes was located in the living room area of the residence. Glass methamphetamine pipes and other drug paraphernalia were allegedly located in the living room area near Engelkes. The deputy says Engelkes admitted that he knew that drug activity occurred at the residence.

Engelkes was charged with gathering where controlled substances are used, a class D felony. If convicted, Engelkes could face up to five years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on Thursday, March 9, 2023.

At last report, Engelkes remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar.
