Sheldon Man Injured In One-Vehicle Crash

accident wordPrimghar, Iowa — A Sheldon man was taken to the hospital shortly after 6:00 am Wednesday (October 26th) morning after a one-vehicle crash near Primghar.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, a 2007 Honda Ridgeline pickup, driven by 39-year old Ricardo Rubio-Topete, of Sheldon, was eastbound on 390th Street, east of Redwing Avenue, when the driver drifted off the roadway to the left and entered the north ditch, striking a private driveway, which caused the truck’s airbags to deploy.  Deputies say the truck came to rest in a harvested field on the north side of the road.

Authorities say Rubio-Topete was taken to the Baum Harmon Mercy Medical Center in Primghar by Primghar Ambulance, with what are described as serious injuries.

Deputies estimate the damage to Rubio-Topete’s Honda at $4-thousand.  Rubio-Topete was ticketed for Failure To Maintain Control.
