Sheldon Pair Arrested Near Sibley For Forgery, ID Theft Following Crash

Sibley, Iowa — A single- car accident north of Sibley early Sunday has resulted in the arrest of a pair of Sheldon men on charges of Forgery and Identity Theft.

According to Osceola County authorities, shortly after midnight Sunday, an Osceola County Deputy allegedly observed a black 2011 Ford Fusion driving northbound on Northwest Blvd. Deputies say the car’s driver failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Hwy 9, veered through the intersection and struck a street sign, causing approximately $5,000 in damage to the vehicle.

According to authorities, the driver, identified as 24-year-old Calin Larios Gutierrez,  of Sheldon, was arrested for alleged Forgery, a Class D Felony, Identity Theft under $1,500, an Aggravated Misdemeanor, and Operating While Under the Influence – 1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor. Larios Gutierrez was transported and booked into the Osceola County Jail. He was released after posting a $5,000 cash bond.

Deputies say a passenger in the vehicle, 21-year-old Domingo Ralios Gomez, of Sheldon, was also charged with Forgery and Identity Theft under $1,500. Ralios Gomez also posted a $5,000 cash bond.

Preliminary hearing for both men are scheduled for next week.
