Sheldon Police Investigate Two Separate Felony Crimes

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Police are investigating a pair of felony crimes that occurred within the past week.

The first was the burglary at a residence in the 900 block of 11th Street, where a person or persons unknown forced entry into a building and reportedly made off with approximately $1,200 worth of lawn care items, various tools and camping equipment. Taken in the burglary was a Honda self-propelled lawn mower, a Poulan Pro gas leaf blower, and EGO battery powered weed eater, along with the other tools and camping equipment. The value of the items taken combine to make this crime 3rd Degree Burglary which is a Class D Felony that carries a potential prison sentence of five years.

The other felony crime under investigation by Sheldon Police is the theft of a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was taken from 4th Street and Washington Avenue. The truck was reportedly taken sometime between 1:30 and 3:30 pm this past Sunday (August 16th). The value of the truck classifies this crime as a Class D Felony, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to five years.
