Sioux Falls Man Taken To Hospital, Jail After Accident

Hawarden, Iowa — A Sioux Falls man was taken to the hospital and then to jail after an accident on Wednesday night, August 19 near Hawarden.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:25 p.m., 28-year-old Aleksandr Yefimov of Sioux Falls was driving a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria northbound on Birch Avenue, three miles north of Hawarden, when he lost control of the vehicle, which struck a bridge.

The Hawarden Ambulance took Yefimov to Hawarden Regional Healthcare.

The Ford sustained approximately $1,000 in damage.

Upon further investigation, deputies suspected that Yefimov was under the influence of alcohol.

Upon his release from medical attention, Yefimov was transported to the Sioux County Jail and was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, no motor vehicle liability insurance, operating a motor vehicle with expired registration, and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hawarden Police Department, Hawarden Ambulance Squad, and the Hawarden Fire Department.
