Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon woman has been arrested on a drug trafficking charge after a traffic stop in Sheldon.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 40-year-old Lindsay Schwebach of Sheldon is accused of the possession of more than five grams but less than five kilograms of methamphetamine. She was arrested on Saturday, April 22nd.
The complaint states a probable cause search was performed on Schwebach’s vehicle. During the search, officers say they found a bag that Schwebach identified as belonging to her. The officer’s statement says the bag contained a digital scale with white crystalline residue on top that field tested positive for methamphetamine, a package of new small baggies, and two plastic containers containing a white crystalline substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Schwebach was charged with the felony possession of a controlled substance, in this case, a class B felony, due to the amount of meth that was allegedly found. If convicted, Schwebach could face up to 50 years in prison. The code section under which she was charged includes an enhanced penalty. Most class B felonies are punishable by only up to 25 years in prison.
She faces a preliminary hearing on May 5, 2023.
At last report, she remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of a $25,000 cash or surety bond.
