Sheldon Woman Faces Felony Drug Charge

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon woman faces a felony drug charge after a recent arrest.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Sheldon Police Department with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court, 38-year-old Amber Dawn Berger was arrested early on Saturday by Sheldon Police.

During a search while the stop was taking place, officers tell us that a crystalline substance was found inside a pill capsule that was located in Berger’s purse. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.

According to the criminal complaint filed with the clerk, Berger has been convicted of drug offenses on at least two prior occasions, which means the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance is a class D felony this time.

If convicted of a class D felony, Berger could face five years in prison, according to Iowa code. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Friday, September 23rd at the O’Brien County Courthouse in Primghar.
