Sibley Man Sentenced For Felony OWI

Sibley, Iowa — A Sibley man has pled guilty and been sentenced on a Felony Drunk Driving charge in Osceola County.

According to online court records, an Osceola County Deputy arrested Rodrigo Esparza in November of last year on a charge of 3rd Offense OWI (Operating While Impaired).

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Esparza pled guilty to the crime, which is a Class D Felony, early last week. He was sentenced to 90 days in the Osceola County Jail with all but 30 days suspended and with credit for the time already served. Esparza was also ordered to pay a $3,125 fine and 15% crime services surcharge. In addition, he was placed on probation to the Third Judicial District Department of Correctional Services for a period of 2 years.  Esparza was also ordered to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and successfully complete a drinking driver’s course, according to authorities.
