Sibley Woman, Passenger Sustain Serious Injuries In Accident

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Sibley woman and her passenger were taken to a hospital after an accident near Rock Rapids on Sunday night, November 24th, 2019

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 8:00 p.m., 35-year-old Richard Fagan of Winfield, Kansas was northbound on Indian Avenue in a 2015 Kenworth semi. They tell us 55-year-old Dianne Kass of Sibley was westbound on Highway 9 in a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox crossover SUV.

According to the report, Fagan’s semi failed to stop for the stop sign and entered the intersection in front of Kass’s SUV, which struck the side of Fagan’s trailer causing both vehicles to become disabled north of the intersection.

Kass and her passenger both sustained serious injuries and they were extricated from the vehicle by the Rock Rapids Fire Department. The Lyon County Ambulance took them to a hospital.

Fagan did not report any injuries.

The Fagan semi sustained about $55,000 in damages. Kass’ vehicle sustained approximately $12,000 in damages.

Trackside Repair also assisted with the accident scene.
