Sibley, Iowa– A Sibley woman was taken to the hospital after an accident in Sibley on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 3:25 p.m., 16-year-old Brianna Taylor of Ocheyedan was driving a 2012 Ford westbound on Fifth Street at Fourth Avenue. They tell us that 81-year-old Rae Johnson of Sibley was eastbound on Fifth in a 2008 Ford.
The report says that Taylor was following a slow-moving pickup so she decided to turn south on Fourth Avenue to get out from behind the pickup. She told the officer that she did not see Johnson’s vehicle approaching from the west and turned in front of it. Johnson’s Ford struck the Taylor Ford in the intersection.
The Sibley Ambulance took Johnson to Osceola Regional Health Center Hospital. Taylor did not report any injuries.
Taylor’s Ford sustained $8000 in damages, and Johnson’s Ford sustained $2000 in damages.
Taylor was charged with failure to yield upon left turn.
