Sibley, Iowa– A Sibley woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Sibley on Monday, November 20, 2023.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 11:45 a.m., 39-year-old Xiangyu Jia of San Gabriel, California was driving a 2019 International semi eastbound on 180th Street, just south of Sibley. They tell us that 74-year-old Joy Hall Villareal of Sibley was northbound on Opal Avenue in a 2016 Jeep.
The report says that the vehicles collided in the intersection. At this time it is believed that Jia failed to yield, but the accident is still under investigation at this time.
The Sibley Ambulance took Hall Villareal to Osceola Regional Health Center Hospital.
Jia’s International semi sustained $10,000 in damages, and Hall Villareal’s Jeep sustained $12,000 in damages, which totaled the vehicle.
