Sioux Center Man Arrested, Charged With Felony Stalking

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center 18-year-old faces a felony stalking charge after a recent incident.

According to court documents obtained from the Sioux Center Police Department, 18-year-old Roberto Cruz Cespedes is charged with stalking a person under the age of 18, which is a Class D felony, according to Iowa code.

According to the complaint, the victim is 16 years of age. The arresting officer says that the victim showed him Snapchat messages between her and Cruz Cespedes. In the messages, the officer says Cruz Cespedes threatened to harm and kidnap the victim’s 4-year-old brother if the victim didn’t come back to him. The victim also told police that Cruz Cespedes had hidden in the trunk of her car, which Cruz Cespedes says he did as a method to try to talk to her. He’s also accused of driving past her house multiple times, causing fear and intimidation.

If convicted of the Class D felony, Cruz Cespedes could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $7,500, according to Iowa code.
