Sioux Center Man Injured In Rollover Crash

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center man was taken to the hospital in the aftermath of a single-vehicle rollover Thursday evening.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, about 8:30 Thursday evening, a 2008 Ford Explorer, driven by 14-year-old Alexis Kooima of Sioux Center, was westbound on 390th Street and attempted to turn right onto Grant Avenue, when she lost control of the SUV, entered the west ditch and rolled.

Deputies say a passenger in the vehicle, 54-year-old Randall Kooima of Sioux Center, was transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash.

Authorities estimate damage to the Explorer at about $10,000.

Alexis Kooima was reportedly cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department and Sioux Center Ambulance.
