Sioux Falls Man Taken To Hospital After Hawarden Area Accident

Hawarden, Iowa — A Sioux Falls man was taken to a hospital after an accident near Hawarden on Monday morning, December 4th, 2023.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:45 a.m., 23-year-old Maykol Garcia-Meza of Sioux Falls, SD was driving a 2014 Ram van southbound on Coolidge Avenue, four miles northeast of Hawarden, when he lost control of the van, which entered the west ditch and rolled.

The Hawarden Ambulance took Garcia-Meza to Hawarden Regional Healthcare.

They tell us the van sustained about $12,000 in damage.

Garcia-Meza was cited on charges of operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

The Hawarden Fire Department, Hawarden Ambulance Squad, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted with the response to the accident.
