Small Plane Lands With No Issues At Maurice After Declaring Emergency

Maurice, Iowa — There were a few tense moments for the passengers in a small airplane flying over Sioux County on Friday.

The pilot of a small plane notified authorities a few minutes after 10:00 a.m. that from what they could tell, the nose-mounted landing gear on the plane would not deploy. Emergency responders were called in from Maurice, Sioux Center, and Orange City while the plane circled the Sioux County Regional Airport near Maurice.

Sioux County Emergency Management Director Nate Huizenga says after the first responders were in place at the airport, the plane landed without any issues. He says there was no damage and no injuries were reported.
