South Dakota Teen Injured In Crash Near Sioux Center Saturday

Sioux Center, Iowa — A South Dakota teen was transported to the hospital in the aftermath of a two-vehicle crash northwest of Sioux Center late Saturday afternoon.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 16-year-old Kendra Blom, of Corsica, South Dakota, was northbound on Dogwood Avenue in a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix and 45-year-old J Cruz Gonzalez, of Dallas, Texas, was eastbound on 380th Street in a 2013 Ford F-250 pickup. Deputies say the two collided in the intersection.

Deputies say Blom was transported to Sioux Center Health by the Sioux Center Ambulance.

Damage to Blom’s Pontiac was estimated at $6,000, while damage to Gonzalez’ pickup was estimated at $20,000.

Gonzalez was reportedly cited for failure to yield to a vehicle on the right and operating a motor vehicle without a valid drivers license.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Ambulance and Sioux Center Fire Department.
