Spencer Woman Taken To Hospital After Rural Hospers Crash

Hospers, Iowa — A Spencer woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Hospers on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:25 a.m., 35-year-old Christina Vande Vegte of Spencer was driving a 2001 Mazda near 400th Street and Nest Avenue, four miles east of Hospers.

According to O’Brien County Sheriff Allen Schuknecht, Vande Vegte may have fallen asleep, which may have led to the crash, which remains under investigation.

The Hospers Ambulance took Vande Vegte to the Orange City Health System Hospital.

Vande Vegte’s Mazda received damages, but at last report, how much damage was not available.

Schuknecht says charges are pending.

He says the Hospers Fire Department assisted at the scene.
