Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City man who is jailed after allegedly stabbing his domestic partner, then leading police on a high speed chase, now has an additional charge filed against him.
The original charges against Arturo Tapia included Attempted Murder for stabbing his female victim back on April 28th. Authorities say Tapia fled from the residence, and was pursued by authorities, finally crashing his vehicle south of Boyden. Tapia and his alleged victim were both airlifted to regional hospitals for treatment of their injuries, with Tapia being incarcerated in the Sioux County Jail following his release from medical care.
Earlier this month, Tapia was charged with Contempt for Violation of a No-Contact/Protective Order. Court records indicate that Tapia, utilizing an electronic device provided by Sioux County Jail staff, allegedly sent text and video messages to the woman he is accused of stabbing.
As of Thursday morning, Tapia remained incarcerated at the Sioux County Jail. The latest charge brings to fifteen the total number of charges Tapia faces in connection with the April 28th incident.
