Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City teen was taken to a hospital and then to jail after an accident on Friday in Orange City.
The Orange City Police Department reports that they believe that before 8:15 a.m., 18-year-old Ronald Humberto Romero Tomas of Orange City was westbound on 18th Street Northwest in a 2000 Ford minivan. They allege he was intoxicated at the time; and drove to where 18th Street Northwest ends. They then say they believe he turned south onto the private drive at 208 18th Street Northwest and continued south to the end of the property and drove the van into a creek.
Officers say they were called and drove through a pasture to a creek bottom where they located the Ford Windstar minivan hung up in the creek. The Orange City Ambulance took Tomas to the Orange City Health System Hospital.
After further investigation, officers arrested the driver on a charge of operating while intoxicated. He was also charged with no valid driver’s license, and was booked into the Sioux County Jail.
The police report says the minivan, owned by Amabilia Tomas sustained $10,000 in damages.
The Orange City Police Department reports that the Orange City Ambulance crew and the Orange City Fire Department assisted them.
