Two Dead, One Injured In Hull Area Crash

Hull, Iowa — Two people were killed and a third person injured as the result of a traffic crash near Hull Wednesday morning.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 10:30 Wednesday morning at the intersection of Highway 75 and 310th Street, or the 75 and 18 north intersection.

Troopers say a 2017 Dodge Caravan minivan, driven by 56-year-old Suzanne Barron of Sioux City, was westbound on 310th Street and reportedly failed to stop for the stop sign at the Highway 75 intersection, pulling into the path of a 2019 Freightliner truck, driven by 46-year-old Jamie Hueschen of Sioux City. According to the accident report, the Freightliner struck Barron’s minivan on the passenger side, with both vehicles coming to rest southwest of the intersection. Troopers say a third vehicle, a 2009 Chevy pickup, driven by 31-year-old Ethan Kooima of Hull was stopped at the eastbound stop sign, and was struck by flying debris from the crash.

According to authorities, Barron and her passenger, 45-year-old Rene Ross II of Hull, died after being transported to area hospitals. Hueschen was transported to the Sioux Center Hospital by the Hull Ambulance.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa DOT and Hull emergency crews.
