Sioux City, Iowa — Two northwest Iowa residents are headed to federal prison and a third faces sentencing in unrelated narcotics cases.
According to federal officials, 33-year-old Delfina Torres-Perez of Sioux City was sentenced to more than 18 years in a federal prison and another 10 years of supervised release after being sentenced for transporting 20 pounds of methamphetamine from California to northwest Iowa.
In an unrelated case, federal prosecutors say 25-year-old Silas Bui of Sioux City was sentenced to 4-1/2 years in federal prison for distributing meth to an individual cooperating with law enforcement. Prosecutor say Bui also has a criminal history that includes drug and domestic violence convictions. In addition to the prison sentence, Bui was sentenced to serve 3 years supervised release following his prison sentence.
A third Sioux City man, 39-year-old Hugo Arechiga Torres of Sioux City is awaiting sentencing for his part to a conspiracy to distribute more than nine pounds of meth in the Sioux City area. Torres has previously been convicted in South Dakota for felony drug trafficking offenses, include a 2014 federal case. Prosecutors say Torres is facing a mandatory prison sentence of 25 years to life in the case, along with a fine as high as $20-million.
