Woman Leads Officers From Two States On Saturday Morning Pursuit

Lyon County, Iowa — A pursuit that started in Lyon County Saturday morning was finally brought to an end near Canton, South Dakota.

According to the Lincoln County South Dakota Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County Iowa Deputies and Iowa State Patrol Troopers were involved in a pursuit that eventually entered Lincoln County on Highway Hwy 18 just east of Canton. Authorities say the pursuit went through the city limits of Canton and later ended on South Dakota Highway 11 near ‪281st St.‬

The female driver and female passenger were taken into custody without incident, according to deputies. The driver was identified as 28-year-old Janie Salinas-Urquilla of Sioux Falls. It was reportedly discovered that she had five felony warrants for her arrest out of Minnehaha County. She was transported to the Minnehaha County Jail and booked in on her five warrants as well as new Lincoln County charges of aggravated eluding and speeding. She also faces other charges in Iowa regarding the pursuit here.
Authorities say the passenger in the vehicle was later released without charges.
