Orange City, Iowa — Two people were taken to the hospital early Wednesday afternoon after their car struck a house near Orange City.
According to Sioux County authorities, the crash occurred around 1:00 Wednesday afternoon on Jackson Avenue (county road K-64), two miles north of Orange City.
Deputies say 38-year-old Cody Mulder, of Hospers, was driving a 2014 Honda CRV northbound on Jackson Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle, entered the east ditch, struck a fence and a residence.
Mulder and a passenger were both reportedly transported by the Orange City Ambulance to Orange City Health for treatment of their injuries. The homeowners were not present when the crash happened.
Deputies estimate the Honda sustained approximately $15, 000 in damage. The residence sustained an estimated $50,000 in damage.
Mulder was reportedly cited for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended drivers license and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Orange City Fire Department and Orange City Ambulance.
