Two Men Arrested After Search Of OC Residence

Orange City, Iowa — Two Orange City men were taken into custody by Orange City Police Thursday afternoon, January 6th.

Police say the arrests of 29-year-old Michael Floyd Cmela and 21-year-old Steven Lee Baker stemmed from officers assisting a probation officer at an Orange City residence. According to authorities, further investigation led officers to obtain a search warrant for the residence. Police also allege that Cmela had failed to register as a sex offender, as required by law.

According to authorities, Cmela was charged with: being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition, a Class D Felony; Sex Offender Registration Violation – 1st Offense, an Aggravated Misdemeanor; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.

Officers say Baker was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both are misdemeanor offenses.

The Orange City Police Department was assisted by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
