Two People Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Alton

Alton, Iowa — A Granville man and a woman from Hardy, Iowa were taken to a hospital after an accident near Alton on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 4:35 p.m., 24-year-old Cesar Salazar of Granville was driving a 2023 Ford pickup eastbound on 450th street, one mile east of Alton. They tell us 27-year-old Karibeth Larson of Hardy, Iowa was driving a different 2023 Ford pickup southbound on Kingbird Avenue, and the pickups collided in the intersection. The pickups came to rest in the southeast ditch.

The Orange City Ambulance took Salazar to Orange City Area Health. The Alton Ambulance took Larson to Orange City Area Health.

Damage to the Ford pickups were estimated at $45,000 each.

The sheriff’s office says the Orange City Police Department, Orange City and Alton Ambulance squads, and the Alton Fire Department assisted with the response to the accident.
