Two People Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Sioux Center

Sioux Center, Iowa — An accident east of Sioux Center Thursday afternoon has injured the drivers of two vehicles. 

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us the crash occurred at 2:20 Thursday afternoon at the intersection of 400th and Indian Avenue.

They say 25-year-old Abigal Vander Werf of Council Bluffs was driving a Nissan Rogue eastbound on 400th Street. Kirsten Cosgrove was driving a Honda Odyssey westbound on 400th Street.

According to the report, Vander Werf attempted a left turn onto Indian Avenue and the two vehicles collided.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took Cosgrove to Sioux Center Health. Vander Werf was taken by private vehicle to Sioux Center Health.

Vander Werf’s Nissan sustained about $25,000 in damage. Cosgrove’s Honda received about $8,000 in damage. Vander Werf was cited for failing to yield upon making a left turn.
