Two People Taken To Sanford Sheldon After Accident East Of Town

Sheldon, Iowa– A Sanborn woman and a Sheldon man were taken to the hospital after an accident near Sheldon on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 4:55 p.m., 52-year-old Renee Sterler of Sanborn was driving a 2011 Chevy SUV westbound on Highway 18, a mile and a half east of the Highway 60 interchange. They tell us that 26-year-old Jonathan Rozeboom of Sheldon was also westbound on 18, ahead of Sterler in a 2001 Ford pickup.


According to the report, Rozeboom started to slow down to turn left (south) onto Oak Hill Avenue. The report says Sterler failed to notice the Rozeboom vehicle slowing down and started to overtake it on the left, striking the driver’s side of the Rozeboom pickup.

The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team (SCAT) took both Sterler and Rozeboom to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Sterler’s Chevy SUV sustained $15,000 in damages, and Rozeboom’s Ford pickup sustained $5,000 in damages.
