UPDATE: Suspect Name & Charges Released: Two Taken To Hospital, One Taken To Jail After Stabbing, Possible Arson In Hull

Hull, Iowa — The suspect’s name has been released in a stabbing and possible arson case in Hull.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us 28-year-old Jorge Gomez-Badillo was arrested and was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with two counts of attempted murder, first-degree burglary, second-degree arson, interference with official acts, possession of cocaine, possession of cannabidol (THC oil), and possession of drug paraphernalia. They tell us there is the possibility of additional charges pending the ongoing investigation.

The attempted murder charges are class B felony counts, as is first-degree burglary. Second-degree burglary is a class C felony. If convicted, Gomez-Badillo could face 25 years in prison on each class B count and ten years on the class C felony count. He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on Tuesday, October 22nd.

The sheriff’s office tells us the Orange City Police Department, Sioux Center Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, and the ambulance squads and fire departments from both Hull and Rock Valley assisted them.

Hull, Iowa — Two people were taken to a hospital with stab wounds and one person was arrested and taken to jail in the aftermath of an incident in Hull on Monday afternoon.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, their dispatch received several 911 calls about a disturbance at 5th and Division Streets in Hull.

The sheriff’s office says that when deputies got there, they discovered three people had been involved in a disturbance, with two of those people having stab wounds.

Both victims were transported by the Hull Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of their injuries. They tell us deputies were able to apprehend one male subject who is now in custody.

Deputies later reported heavy black smoke coming from a residence at 1429 Division Street, near the original incident. Fire Departments from Hull and Rock Valley responded to and extinguished a fire that appeared to have started in a bedroom of the home. Deputies say they suspect the fire may have been intentionally started before the disturbance by the suspect who was taken into custody.

The case remains under investigation and the sheriff’s office tells us further information will be released at a later time. They assure us that there is no danger to the public.

The Orange City Police Department, Sioux Center Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Hull Ambulance Squad, Rock Valley Ambulance Squad, Hull Fire Department, and Rock Valley Fire Department assisted the sheriff’s office.
