Canton Man Injured In Single-Vehicle Crash

Rock Valley, Iowa — A 52-year-old Canton man was transported to the hospital after losing control of his car northwest of Rock Valley Friday morning.

According to a report from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Kent Fossum of Canton was eastbound on 290th Street, about 10 miles northwest of Rock Valley, when he lost control of his 2001 Buick Le Sabre, entered the south ditch, struck several trees and a gate in a fence line, finally coming to rest in a field.

Fossum was transported to the Canton-Inwood Hospital by Canton Ambulance.

Deputies estimate damage to Fossum’s Buick at $4,000.

Sioux County deputies were assisted at the scene by Canton Ambulance, Canton Fire Department and Fairview Fire Department.

Authorities say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
