Domestic Disturbance Reveals Prior Sexual Assault, Investigation Leads To Arrest

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center man was arrested Wednesday night on charges stemming from an investigation that began last month.

Sioux County authorities say 41-year-old Lucia Mejia-Rodriguez faces a sexual assault charge. His arrest is the result of an investigation that began in early October after the report of a domestic disturbance at a rural Sioux Center address.

Deputies say further investigation revealed that Mejia-Rodriguez had allegedly sexually assaulted the victim on a date prior to the domestic disturbance.

As a result of the investigation, Mejia-Rodriguez was charged with 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, which is a Class C Felony.

As of mid-morning Saturday, Mejia-Rodriguez remained in the Sioux County Jail, according to online jail records.
