UPDATE: Fire Department Called To O’Brien County Implement

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Fire Company was paged out around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon for a building on fire at O’Brien County Implement.

According to Sheldon Assistant Fire Chief Brad Hindt, when firefighters arrived on scene they found smoke coming from the east storage building, behind O’Brien Country Implement’s main building. Hindt says O’Brien County Implement employees had put most of the fire out with several fire extinguishers. Firefighters put out the remaining hot spots, along with removing  shelving, other items, and removed the steel siding from the building.

Hindt says the fire was caused by improper use of an electrical extension cord that was run overhead. He reports minor damage to the south end of the building.

Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.

Sheldon Fire was assisted by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team and Sheldon Police Department.
