Hawarden Man Arrested On Child Sex-Related Charges

Hawarden, Iowa — A Hawarden man faces a laundry list of felony and misdemeanor child sex-related charges following an investigation into an alleged incident in May of this year.

According to court documents, 62-year-old Robert Michael Schiefen is accused of attempting to entice and solicit a female under the age of 13 for sexual activity, fondle her and expose himself to her.

He’s charged with: Enticing a Minor and Lascivious Acts With a Child (fondling or touching), both of which are Class C Felonies; Lascivious Acts With a Child (solicitation), a Class D Felony; and Indecent Exposure, a Serious Misdemeanor. Schiefen was arrested by Hawarden Police on the charges this past Saturday.

A Preliminary Hearing in the case is scheduled for 10:00 am Thursday, June 28th in Sioux County Magistrate Court.

As of early Tuesday afternoon, Schiefen remained incarcerated at the Sioux County Jail in Orange City.
