Online Threats Escalate To Felony Charges Against Orange City Man

Hull, Iowa — An Orange City man faces a felony burglary charge following an incident that happened Monday afternoon in Hull.

According to court documents, 19-year-old Christopher Rubiales-Sandoval, of Orange City  had allegedly been threatening to assault a Hull resident via social media throughout the day on Monday over a disagreement about personal property.

Rubiales-Sandoval allegedly showed up at the victim’s residence in Hull late Monday afternoon and, according to court records, damaged the front door of the residence, before allegedly forcing entry into the house through an overhead garage door, damaging the door in the process.

Deputies say Rubiales-Sandoval entered the residence and threatened to assault the victim. Court records indicate that when the victim called 911, Rubiales-Sandoval left the scene.

He was taken into custody later Monday, and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, which is a Class C Felony.

According to online court records, a Preliminary Hearing in the case is scheduled for November 9th.

As of mid-afternoon Tuesday Rubiales-Sandoval was still being held in the Sioux County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
