Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley woman was taken to the hospital after an accident in Rock Valley on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.
The Rock Valley Police Department reports that at about 7:45 a.m., 41-year-old Shaunta Thorne of Rock Valley was driving a 2004 Buick SUV southbound on Eleventh Avenue in Rock Valley. They report that 25-year-old Arthur Vander Waal of Hull was westbound on Highway 18 in a 2019 Kenworth semi.
The report says that Thorne attempted to make a left turn to head east on Highway 18, but failed to yield to the westbound semi and the vehicles collided.
The Rock Valley Ambulance took Thorne to Hegg Health Center Hospital.
Thorne’s Buick SUV sustained about $6000 in damages, and Vander Waal’s Kenworth semi sustained about $1000 in damages.
Thorne was charged with Failure to Obey Stop Sign and Yield.
