Sheldon Fire Department Called To Apartment Fire

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Fire was called to a report of a fire alarm on Friday, May 24th in Sheldon.

According to Sheldon Fire Chief Brad Hindt, just before 5:00 pm on Friday, the Sheldon Fire Department was paged out to an apartment complex at 2501 E 6th St for a fire alarm.

The chief says the fire department was told there was smoke in one of the apartment units. Upon arrival firefighters found a fire on top of the stove and the fire was put out by the resident.

The cause of the fire was due to stove being accidentally turned on and there were some items sitting on the stove top that burned.

There was minor damage to the range and vent hood.

No injuries we reported.

He says firefighters were on scene for less than fifteen minutes.
