Sheldon Firefighters Called To Truck Fire On Old 60 South

Sheldon, Iowa — A semi-truck was damaged in a fire on Monday, June 8, 2020, in Sheldon.

According to Sheldon Assistant Fire Chief Brad Hindt, about 2:40 p.m., the Sheldon Fire Company was called to the report of a semi-truck on fire in the 1700 block of South Second Avenue — Business 60, near the Maintainer plant.

The assistant chief says the fire department saw a smoking semi-tractor when they arrived on-scene. He says the fire had already been put out by bystanders. But he says firefighters cooled the engine area of the truck tractor.

No injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire appeared to be an electrical issue.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 30 minutes.
