Sheldon Man Faces Felony Sex Abuse Charge

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man has been arrested and is accused of the sexual abuse of a teen.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 21-year-old Henry Araica-Gonzalez of Sheldon is charged with third-degree sexual abuse of a child, a class C felony, and a misdemeanor count of dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to a minor. He was arrested on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023.

The complaint accuses Araica-Gonzalez of being in a sexual relationship with a child who was 15 years of age, recording sex acts on video at least three times, and sending a minor a pornographic video via text message.

If convicted, Araica-Gonzalez could face up to ten years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on Monday, February 27th.

At last report, Araica-Gonzalez remained in custody at the O’Brien County Jail in lieu of an $11,000 cash or surety bond.
