Sheldon Man Taken To Hospital After Boyden Accident

Boyden, Iowa — A Sheldon man was taken to the hospital after an accident near Boyden on Wednesday morning, January 6th.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, about 5:40 a.m., 59-year-old Glen Petrich of Rock Rapids was driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla westbound on Highway 18. They tell us 20-year-old Dalton Holtrop of Sheldon was driving a 2016 Hyundai Sonata westbound on Highway 18 behind Petrich. The report says Petrich slowed for oncoming traffic before attempting to turn left onto a business driveway and Holtrop allegedly struck Petrich.

The Boyden Ambulance took Holtrop to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center.

Petrich’s Toyota sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage. Holtrop’s Hyundai sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.

Holtrop was cited on a charge of following too closely.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Boyden Fire Department and Boyden Ambulance.
