Sioux Center Teen Taken To Hospital After Accident

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center teen was taken to the hospital after an accident on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, about 3:40 p.m., 28-year-old Trevor Engeltjes of Everly was driving a 2006 Ford F-350 pickup pulling a stock trailer northbound on Hickory Avenue about a mile east of Sioux Center. They say 17-year-old Pieter Westerbeek V of Sioux Center was driving a 2007 Ford F-150 pickup westbound on 410th Street, and the two struck in the intersection.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took Westerbeek to Sioux Center Health.

Engeltjes’ pickup and trailer sustained about $25,000 in damage. The Westerbeek pickup sustained about $20,000 in damage.

Engeltjes was cited on a charge of failure to yield to a vehicle on the right and operating a vehicle with expired registration.

The sheriff’s office reports that the Sioux Center Fire Department, Sioux Center Ambulance Squad and the Sioux Center Police Department assisted them with the response to the accident.
