Stabbing Being Investigated In Calumet; Victim In Critical Condition

Calumet, Iowa — Authorities have not released any information about who may have stabbed a Calumet man, but they have released some information about the incident.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at about 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019. They found 65-year-old Terry Lee Hoppe at his home on North Street in Calumet with a stab injury to his chest.

The sheriff’s office says the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting them in the investigation.

We are told that the Sutherland Ambulance took Hoppe to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center. He was transferred to Mercy One Hospital in Sioux City where at last report, they said he remained in the intensive care unit in critical condition.

According to sheriff’s officials, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation lab team was called to Calumet to assist with the investigation. The Paullina Police Department assisted with security at the scene. They tell us the investigation continues.
