Three Transported After Pickup Collides With Semi Near Paullina

Paullina, Iowa — Three people were injured Monday evening when a pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer rig between Paullina and Granville, on Highway 10.

According to the accident report from the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the mishap occurred shortly before 6:00 Monday evening when a 2015 Ford pickup, driven by 25-year-old Adriana Pena, of Worthington, was northbound on Nettle Avenue, approaching Highway 10. Deputies say Pena failed to stop at the stop sign at that intersection, striking the side of an eastbound 2016 Kenworth semi tractor, driven by 42-year-old Rick Hollander, of Spencer.

Deputies report Pena and two passengers, 22-year-old Edwin Orellana, of Paullina and a 2-year-old male passenger, were all transported to the Orange City Hospital by the Paullina Ambulance.

Damages to Pena’s pickup are estimated at $15,000, while damage to the Kenworth is estimated at $12,000.

Pena was reportedly cited for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign and Yield Right of Way.
