Truck Destroyed In Fire Near Paullina

Paullina, Iowa — A salvage truck was destroyed in a fire on Thursday, April 30, 2020, near Paullina.

According to Paullina Fire Chief Brent Noteboom, about 8:10 p.m., the Paullina Fire Department was called to the report of a combine and tractor fire near 440th Street and Oriole Avenue, two and a half miles west and a mile and a half north of Paullina.

The chief says the fire department saw lots of smoke as they approached the scene. He says they used water to fight the fire.

Noteboom says no injuries were reported.

The fire department was assisted by the Granville Fire Department, which is always paged with Paullina to fires of this type.

He says someone was burning and lost control of the fire. He says the truck burned up, which was of minimal value. But the fire didn’t burn the combine.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for an hour or so.
