Two Injured In Crash Near Sioux Center

Sioux Center, Iowa — Two people were taken to Sioux Center Health as the result of a two-vehicle collision near Sioux Center.

Sioux County authorities say they responded to the intersection of 400th Street and Garfield Avenue, about two miles west of Sioux Center shortly after 2:30 Thursday afternoon to investigate the crash.

According to authorities, the accident happened when a westbound 1996 Ford Mustang, driven by 49-year-old Cindy Van Den Hull of Sioux Center stopped for the stop sign at Garfield Avenue, when a southbound 2006 Ford F-250 pickup, driven by 16-year-old Jacob Dragstra of Sioux Center attempted to turn left onto 400th Street and collided with Van Den Hull’s Mustang.

Deputies say Van Den Hul and a passenger were transported by private vehicle to Sioux Center Health for treatment of minor injuries.

The F-250 sustained approximately $5,000 in damage. The Mustang sustained approximately $7,000 in damage, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Dragstra was reportedly cited for failing to yield when making a left turn.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department.
